The topic of this "Ask the Expert" session will be "The Madrid System for the
International Registration of Marks". A presentation on the Madrid System can be found here.
Our expert is Matthew Forno, Senior Counsellor in the Information and Promotion Division, Madrid Registry, Brands and Designs Sector, WIPO. Matthew will be happy to share their expertise with you and answer your questions.
Since 2014, Mr. Forno has been the Officer-in-Charge of the Madrid Registry, Information and Promotion Division (IPD). IPD is responsible for provision of information on the Madrid System and encouraging increased use of the System in existing and new Contracting Parties
Before joining WIPO, Mr. Forno was the IP Expert Consultant to the ASEAN Secretariat on the ASEAN-Australia-New Zealand Free Trade Area, where he designed and managed economic cooperation projects. He also spent a number of years at IP Australia, as Director of International Policy and Cooperation, Assistant Director of Marketing and as a Trade Mark Examiner. Mr. Forno also worked as Communications and Outreach Manager at the APEC Secretariat in Singapore.
Mr. Forno holds a Master of Diplomacy and Trade degree from Monash University in Australia and a Bachelor of Arts in Communication degree (Majoring in Marketing and Public Relations) from the University of Canberra.
