Daren Tang nominated for Second Term as Director General!

The Coordination Committee of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) has nominated Mr. Daren Tang from Singapore for a second six-year term to the post of Director General.

On April 21, 2026, the WIPO General Assembly, the Paris Union Assembly and the Berne Union Assembly will meet in an extraordinary session, to confirm the Coordination Committee’s nomination.

The Coordination Committee, which is comprised of 83 member states, met on February 12, and held one round of voting from a list of two candidates. The second candidate was Mr. Johanny Stanley Joseph from the Republic of Haiti.

Mr. Tang, whose current term ends on September 30, 2026, prevailed in the first round of voting with 81 votes; Mr. Johanny Stanley Joseph received 2 votes.
