From 17 to 21 October, 2022, the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), held its FAO Science and Innovation Forum in Rome, Italy, which took the form of a hybrid event.

The event focused on highlighting the centrality of science, technology and innovation for agrifood systems transformation. In addition, it encouraged a diversity of perspectives based on science, thereby facilitating rationalization and inclusiveness of debate.

The Forum was organized together with the World Food Forum (WFF) and the FAO Hand-in-Hand Investment Forum.

The preceding week saw almost 100 side events take place, which were managed by the organizers, namely, the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), the World Health Organization (WHO), the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), the Elsevier Foundation, and the Research4Life Partnership, between 12 to 14 October, 2022.

A main side event of the FAO Science and Innovation Forum, which took place on 12 October, 2022 and was entitled Access to Scientific Information in the Global South: Partnering for Action, presented initiatives managed by UN agencies and other stakeholders that support low-income countries to strengthen evidence-based decision making, especially on research and policies related to agrifood systems transformation.  Nearly 400 participants, representing 70 countries, took part in the event.
