Dear Colleagues,
I recently attended a presentation entitled “The Spark of Invention”, which took place last week, 23 September, in Geneva.
Presentations were given by Jeffrey Kluger, senior editor who oversees TIME's science and technology reporting and Michelle K. Lee, Deputy Director of the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Jeffrey Kluger’s presentation was based on his article “The Spark of Invention”, which was published in 2013 in the TIME magazine and focused on the results of a joint TIME/Qualcomm pool. The results of the pool revealed "who inventors are, how they do their work and which countries used to be – and will be – the most inventive" in the years and decades to come.
The pool results give great insights into e.g. whether inventors are born or made, what attributes inventors have and what barriers there are to inventions.
