The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), in collaboration with the National Intellectual Property Management Office (NIPMO), a part of the Department of Science and Innovation (DSI) in South Africa, organized training on IP commercialization for its TISCs, comprising SMMEs, universities and research institutions.
Opening remarks were given by Ms. Jetane Charsley, Head, NIPMO and Mr. Alez Riechel, Head, TISC Development Section, (on behalf of Mr. Andrew Czajkowski, Director, Technology and Innovation Support Division), WIPO. Ms. Charsley highlighted the importance of building skills in the area of IP commercialization for TISC staff members as well as the representatives from SMMEs, to enable them to understand the different possibilities that can take place on the commercialization route.
