The Patent Information User Group (PIUG) has announced that applications for the 2018 Brian Stockdale Memorial Award are now being accepted.

The Award covers membership in PIUG for the current year, conference and workshop registration, and standard travel expenses up to an amount not exceeding 2000 US dollars, to assist the award recipient in attending the PIUG Annual Conference, an International Conference for Patent Information Professionals.

The Award is open to patent information professionals with less than 3 years total work experience in the field of patent information as well as to students currently enrolled in a college or university with a demonstrated interest in pursuing a career in patents, in particular in patent information.

Potential candidates must submit a short essay, not to exceed 500 words, describing their professional or educational interests, as well as their need for financial assistance with respect to conference attendance. Submissions must include the candidate's name, mailing address, phone number, fax number, and email address as well as a description of his or her patent information experience and current employer/university name and address.

The deadline for submitting the application essay is March 2, 2018. The application should be sent by email to edlyns@earthlink.net.
