A total number of ten (10) SMEs and startups (out of 780 applications from 95 countries), have been announced as the winners of this year’s WIPO Global Awards. The winning products include antibody therapeutics, sign-to-speech gloves, next-generation memory chips and sustainable protein fermentation—breakthroughs that reflect the transformative power of intellectual property (IP) in improving lives, advancing technology, and building more sustainable communities.

Finalists were grouped into five (5) categories, namely: Health, Environment, ICT, Creative Industries, and Agrifood and were selected based on four key criteria:

1. Their business case and current IP portfolio;

2. Future growth and international IP strategy;

3. IP culture within the company; and

4. Their impact for a better society.

The Awards, this year, introduced a dual-category approach, which recognises both startups and SMEs, to highlight innovation and IP excellence across different stages of business development.
