Second window for Prior Experience Recognition (PER, aka Grandparenting) for Qualified Patent Information Professionals (QPIP) now open!

After the initial PER opportunity which was restricted to patent information professionals who reside either in the United States of America or in Europe (i.e. any European country that is a member state or extension state of the European Patent Organisation), the International Standards Board for Qualified Patent Information Professionals (ISBQPIP) now opened the PER application window for patent information professionals globally EXCEPT in
• USA
• Europe
• China
• India
• Japan
• South Korea
• Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (North Korea)

Residents from the USA and Europe can only become QPIP by successfully passing the exams. Residents from China, India, Japan, South Korea and North Korea are currently excluded because of the limited capacity for assessing PER applications in the ISBQPIP versus the expected large number of applications from these countries. A PER opportunity will be provided for these countries in due course.

The application period opened on July 15, 2020 and will last until October 15, 2020 (11:59 pm Central European Time)

We would like to refer any interested party to the procedure in the Articles and Rules (see especially Rule 18 and 19). The PER application form, as well as templates for the required Curriculum Vitae and Employment letter can be downloaded from the QPIP PER page. Answers to Frequently Asked Questions are provided on the PER FAQ page. If you have any other questions, please contact info@qpip.org)

Please note that there will NO further opportunities to apply for Prior Experience Recognition, except for residents of China, India, Japan, South Korea and North Korea.
