Mr. Chad Patrick Osorio, Balik Scientist, Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and Extension, University of the Philippines Los Banos

Chad Patrick Osorio is a lawyer and applied economist working at the intersection of intellectual property, artificial intelligence, and sustainable development. He is Expert Mentor with the IP for Business Division of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) on AI and sustainability-related projects. His research and policy work spans international law and innovation governance for sustainability economics, with a particular focus on the Global South.
Beyond academia, Chad is an international award-winning essayist and photographer bridging law, economics, and psychology. He is 2023 Sen Prize awardee (Top 2), in honor of Nobel Prize-winning economist and philosopher Amartya Sen, granted by Yale University's Global Justice Program. He also won 1st place in the Peter Drucker Challenge, invited to the Hofburg Palace in Vienna, Austria in 2022, for his work on the creative economy. He is contributing author to a number of leading global publications, including the Harvard International Law Journal, the Cambridge Journal of Climate Research, German Commission for UNESCO’s Fair Culture Journal, and the Oxford Graduate Inequality Review, among many other top journals.
Chad is currently working on his next book entitled “The Hungry Startup’s Guide to the Economics of Information.”
